Allison Serrell, Special to The Chronicle
Bye-bye, baby-doll pink and Thomas the Tank Engine blue. Hello, stainless steel, celadon and smooth natural birch. Kids' room--particularly those of babies and toddlers -- have, well, grown up. They're modern, streamlined and appeal to parents as well as kids...
Daniel Kron, proprietor of Genius Jones, a retailer of furnishings and accessories for kids, agrees. "These days, parents don't have to surrender to the mass market, "he said. "It's possible to find smart children's products that are so well designed you won't feel compelled to hide them in a closet when company comes to visit." Genius Jones has two stores, in Miami and Miami Beach, Fla., and is available online.
