PANTON JUNIOR CHAIR
Not all Modern masterpeices are begging to be made over. The Panton Chair, created by famous Danish designer Verner Panton in 1959, is an example. Made of colorful molded polypropylene and meant from the start to evoke the simple beauty of the mass-produced object, its curvy, cantilevered shape and inexpensive functionality have turned it into a persistent favorite piece of the design landscape. Understanding that his chair was also perfect for children, Panton designed a smaller version just before his death in 1998. It quickly became so well liked that it may soon surpass its elder prototype in popularity. Children instantly get this smooth and graceful design, which is light and indestructible enough to move easily from indoors to outdoors for all manner of rough play. Measurements: 14.75 w x 17.5" d x 24.75" h; seat height 13.75". Still made by the Vitra company that produced the original, the Panton Junior is available in six kid-friendly colors, including red (shown), white, orange, light pink, light blue, and lime, all with a matte finish. $130 at www.geniusjones.com, (866) 436-4875.
